SAN FRANCISCO CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, REDWOOD CREDIT UNION TO HOST SCREENING OF 鈥�5 BLOCKS鈥� FEATURE FILM
San Francisco, CA 鈥� The 乌鸦传媒 will host a director鈥檚 discussion and screening of 鈥樷��, a film that takes a candid look at the Central Market Street neighborhood where income disparity and changing demographics pose one of the most challenging questions facing major cities across the United States鈥擨s it possible to create a neighborhood that works for everyone? This event, sponsored by Redwood Credit Union, whose mission includes supporting the community, will give attendees the unique opportunity to hear from the film鈥檚 director before a screening of the film at historic A.C.T.鈥檚 Strand Theater. The program will begin with a reception at 5:00 PM before the discussion at 5:45 PM and screening at 6:00 PM.

San Francisco鈥檚 Market Street was once the grandest boulevard in America. No stranger to civic celebrations since the 1900s and just minutes from City Hall, the area fell into decline and became home to the city鈥檚 poorest population. The neighborhood is currently undergoing its most dramatic change in 50 years as tech companies, their employees, and the restaurants and store that cater to them confront the realities of a neighborhood that still houses some of the city鈥檚 most marginalized residents. Interweaving cinema v茅rit茅 scenes, interviews with 16 individuals, and archival film and photos, 5 Blocks reveals the challenges of attracting new, wealthy residents and workers to an area with a 50-year history of housing and serving a very poor population.听
